ENGINEERING

MATERIALS AND DEVICES FOR SOLAR FUELS

Welcome to Abdi group

Our group is part of the Institute for Solar Fuels at Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin, Germany. We are interested in the development of photoelectrode materials in solar-to-fuel conversion applications. We focus on complex metal oxides, which are generally cheap and abundant, and we apply bulk and surface modification strategies to improve the material properties. At the same time, we are interested in the engineering and scale-up of solar-to-fuel devices. We combine multiphysics modeling with validation experiments in order to identify challenges associated to device scale-up and demonstrate highly-efficient solar-to-fuel conversion devices.
